Children born with a cleft lip or cleft palate are faced with severe physical challenges including difficulties eating, drinking, and speaking. Even more traumatizing may be the social isolation that a child born with these deformities must face. In the winter of 2005, working with the Guanajuato State Social Program and the Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF), XanGo supported a mission led by U.S. plastic surgeon Dr Valentin Gracia. During the mission Dr Gracia performed more than 60 cleft lip and cleft palate corrective surgeries for kids. XanGo staff members traveled to Guanajuato Mexico to visit with some of the children and meet with the program managers.
